Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu offers great fitness through an alternative sport.   


In Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu (BJJ) grappling is the primary method of defense, instead of punching and kicking. Your child will learn techniques that allow them to control a situation, without having to seriously hurt their opponent. There is no soft way to punch someone else in the face!

 

BJJ is a martial art and combat sport that focuses on grappling and especially ground fighting with the goal of gaining a dominant position and using submissions to control an opponent.  It promotes the principle that a smaller, weaker person using leverage and proper technique can successfully defend against a bigger, stronger assailant.  BJJ can be trained for self defense, sport grappling tournaments and mixed martial arts (MMA) competition.  Sparring and live drilling play a major role in training, and a premium is placed on performance, especially in competition.

  

We teach kids in an encouraging, fun environment. We use games to introduce and practice skills needed for martial arts. Our program isn’t strictly a means of physical conditioning. We consider each class a means to build character.
